The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane has a requirement for the repair of two Hurco machining centers: a 3-axis vertical machining center (P/N: VMX42i, S/N: S443-1601077KFDCH) and a 5-axis vertical machining center (P/N: VMX42SRTi, S/N: S444-2300420DFBAH). The proposed contract action is for the supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source, Hurco Companies, Inc, and Authorized Distributors, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1. This is being sole sourced because Hurco Companies, Inc, and Authorized Distributors utilize proprietary software, diagnostic tools, and technical data that are not available to the public or other third-party repair vendors.
Key aspects of the job include:
• Removing the existing spindle and installing a new one for both machining centers
• Performing the spindle run-in procedure for both machining centers
• Resetting the machine centerlines for the 5-axis vertical machining center
• Providing a core charge reimbursement contingent upon the return of a usable core to Hurco
• Shipping the repaired machining centers to NSWC Crane
