Special Notice of Intent

The Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute, Center for Cancer Research, Lymphoid Malignancies Branch, intends to award a sole source contract to Beckman Coulter, Inc. for preventative maintenance services for a Beckman Coulter Cytoflex S Instrument. The contract will be a firm-fixed price contract with a period of performance of 12 months. The services required include all labor, material, and equipment necessary to maintain and provide preventive maintenance for the instrument. • The contract is for a sole source award, and the justification for this is that Beckman Coulter, Inc. is the original equipment manufacturer and the sole service provider for the instrument. • The instrument is used extensively in support of ongoing cancer research, and timely, efficient, and proper maintenance service is critical for the research projects conducted at the Lymphoid Malignancies Branch. • The contract value is not specified, but it is expected to be below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold. • The contract will be awarded under the authority of FAR subpart 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), for purchases not exceeding the Simplified Acquisition Threshold.
