Description
The City of Syracuse is seeking a qualified and experienced martial arts instructor or organization to provide a comprehensive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) training program for the Syracuse Regional Police Academy. The program aims to enhance officer safety, defensive tactics, situational control, and overall physical preparedness. The selected contractor will be required to provide a detailed 26-week curriculum, cost estimates, proof of insurance, and documentation of instructor credentials. The contract will be for a period of one year, with two optional one-year renewals.
• Provide professional instruction in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tailored for law enforcement applications
• Improve recruits’ and officers’ ability to safely control subjects, de-escalate encounters, and protect themselves and others
• Develop a structured curriculum that is scalable, measurable, and compliant with NYS Article 35
• Integrate the program into future Syracuse Regional Police Academy classes
• Promote recruit fitness, wellness, and resilience through martial arts training
