The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is awarding a sole source contract for GPS transmitters and associated data transmission fees for placement on Golden Eagles. The contract requires the purchase of 25 GPS Transmitters (45 g Solar/ARGOS GPS PTTs) and associated data transmission fees. The agency has already captured and fitted 5 golden eagles with Microwave Telemetry units, and they need to maintain consistency in data collection, automation of data management, and collaboration among agencies. The contract will be executed with Microwave Technology for the hardware and Argos/CLS for the data collection.
• The GPS transmitters must be able to collect several GPS locations per day over a duration of at least 3 years.
• The units must be solar powered and have activity sensors to assess behavioral activities of eagles in flight.
• The agency is collaborating with USFWS and Oregon State University to successfully complete this project.
• The data obtained from these transmitters will be shared with USFWS and OSU.
