Description

The US Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District intends to award a sole-source contract to the Yakama Nation for a tribal housing displacement study. The study aims to examine the extent to which Indian villages, housing sites, and related structures were displaced or destroyed by the construction of Bonneville, The Dalles, John Day, and McNary Dams. The study will focus on compiling ethnographic information, describing the habitations, living conditions, and livelihoods of Yakama Nation occupants in the study area during the 20th century. The study area includes the Bonneville, The Dalles, John Day, and McNary Reservoirs in several counties in Washington and Oregon. Key aspects of the study include: • Compiling ethnographic information on the Yakama Nation's use of the study area prior to and during the dam construction periods • Describing the habitations, living conditions, and livelihoods of Yakama Nation occupants in the study area • Identifying Yakama Nation members who were displaced by dam construction and providing short biographical sketches of their lives • Providing a personal view of the important resources used by Yakama Nation Tribal members • Informing the Displacement Assessment Report with the study's findings

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The budget for this contract can be estimated based on the scope of work and the requirements of the study. Given that the study involves compiling ethnographic information, conducting research, and providing biographical sketches, the budget may be in the range of $200,000 to $500,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the study will require a team of researchers and consultants to work on the project for several months. The actual budget may vary depending on the complexity of the study, the number of personnel involved, and the duration of the project. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the level of expertise required, the amount of data to be collected and analyzed, and the need for specialized equipment or software.
