SD8539 Manse Street Channel Rehabilitation Project

The City of Columbia is seeking a qualified contractor for the SD8539 Manse Street Channel Rehabilitation Project. The project involves stream stabilization and infrastructure improvements along an unnamed tributary of Smith Branch in the Manse Street and Colonial Drive area. The goal is to address ongoing channel instability, mitigate erosion, and improve long-term stormwater conveyance and structural integrity within this residential corridor. The project includes the installation of approximately 100 ft of 48” and 60” RCP pipe culvert and the removal and replacement of sections of modular block stream wall. The contractor will be responsible for securing all necessary licenses and permits, and for performing the work in accordance with the City's engineering regulations and specifications. Some key aspects of the project include: • The project corridor begins downstream of Manse Street at approximately 2206 Manse Street and extends roughly 300 linear feet to an existing concrete-lined canal. • The tributary is currently constrained by stacked masonry concrete walls that lack proper structural support and have experienced significant deterioration. • The first 150 linear feet downstream of Manse Street show clear signs of failure, including sinkholes, cracking, heaving, and settlement, posing a risk to adjacent properties and infrastructure. • The contractor will be required to provide a bid bond, payment bond, and performance bond, and to comply with all applicable federal and state regulations.
