Showalter Road at Perini Avenue Intersection Improvements

The project involves reconfiguring the intersection of Showalter Road and Perini Avenue from a full movement to a right-in/right-out traffic pattern. The work includes road widening, construction of curb, concrete island, concrete median, traffic barrier, and paving. The project must be completed within 100 consecutive calendar days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed. The contractor must comply with the MDOT SHA Specifications and the Special Provisions included in the Invitation to Bid. • The project requires the contractor to widen Showalter Road to provide a 350’ acceleration lane and 164’ taper section. • The contractor must reconstruct the existing concrete island and construct a new concrete median on Perini Avenue. • The contractor must relocate approximately 264’ of traffic barrier and construct 77’ of new traffic barrier. • The contractor must perform grading for road widening, 2” mill and overlay, full depth paving, pavement markings, sign relocation, and traffic control. • The contractor must comply with the Maryland Department of Transportation, State Highway Administration "Standard Specifications for Construction and Materials” and the Special Provisions included in the Invitation to Bid.
