Description

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is seeking information from potential sources on obtaining Launch Ascent Imagery as a service on an as-needed basis for NASA Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) Program vehicle launches. The goal is to obtain this capability from commercial entities that can provide a viable service. The key requirements for the Launch Ascent Imagery service include remotely operable, interoperable, standardized, and flexible systems that can provide high-speed visual imagery, infrared imagery, and multi-focal length imagery. The systems should also be able to track multiple targets simultaneously and provide accurate and smooth tracking. • Remotely operable launch ascent imagery systems • Interoperable subsystems that can be installed on any tracking gimbal/turret of the fleet • Standardized launch ascent imagery systems main architecture • Flexible mobilization of launch ascent imagery systems within 24 hours prior to mission launch • Multi-spectral imaging support • Multi-tracking optical tracking systems • Accurate track/quality track consistently smooth and properly framed areas of interest throughout the ascent profile • Movable and transportable over test range • Efficient operations with easy setup for various flight test scenarios

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate as the document does not provide a clear indication of the budget or the cost of the services. However, considering the complexity and the requirements of the launch ascent imagery systems, it could be a significant amount. The vendor is also asked to provide a rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost estimate for the effort, which could be used to develop budgetary forecasting. The estimated budget could be in the range of $500,000 to $5 million, depending on the scope and the requirements of the project. This estimate is based on the assumption that the project will require a significant amount of equipment, personnel, and resources to provide the launch ascent imagery services. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the systems, the number of launches per year, and the level of competition.
