The project involves the removal of existing concrete rubble debris, placement of geotextile fabric, timber buffer, and placement of engineered riprap and recycled concrete rubble. The contractor will be responsible for all labor, materials, equipment, and services necessary to complete the project. The project requires the contractor to perform construction surveying and layout, environmental protection, and compliance with environmental permits. The contractor will also be responsible for the protection of public and private property, including maintaining two-way vehicular traffic and not blocking access to residential driveways. Some key features of the project include: • The project is located on Ocean View Beach between Sarah Constant Beach Park and Ocean View Beach Park in Norfolk, Virginia. • The contractor will be required to perform the work in a continuous and orderly manner, with no payment made for work done in any acceptance section of the beach until the entire section is brought to the shape and grade indicated. • The contractor will be responsible for the safety and security of the public in the work areas and for the protection of the environment, including the protection of threatened and endangered species. • The contractor will be required to maintain a current register of planned placement operations and provide daily reports to the owner. • The contractor will be responsible for the removal of all temporary construction and the restoration of the affected area to its original condition.

Budget estimate

$150,000 – $300,000

The budget for this project can be estimated based on the scope of work, which includes the construction of an armored stone revetment along the shoreline of Ocean View Beach. The project requires the removal of existing concrete rubble debris, placement of geotextile fabric, timber buffer, and placement of engineered riprap and recycled concrete rubble. The cost of labor, materials, equipment, and services will be significant. Assuming a moderate-sized project with a length of approximately 200 feet and a width of 10 feet, the total area of the revetment would be around 2,000 square feet. The cost of materials, including stone, geotextile fabric, and timber, could range from $50 to $100 per square foot, depending on the quality and quantity of materials. The total cost of materials could be estimated at $100,000 to $200,000. The cost of labor, equipment, and services could add another $50,000 to $100,000 to the total cost. Therefore, the budget for this project could be estimated to be in the range of $150,000 to $300,000.
