The Microsystems Technology Office (MTO) at DARPA is seeking revolutionary research ideas for topics not being addressed by ongoing MTO programs or other published solicitations. The office is establishing a beyond-the-headlights strategy that focuses on three thrusts: Scientific Disruption, Microsystems manufacturing ecosystem, and Dual use by design. Proposers are encouraged to submit abstracts and proposals for research in areas such as photonic circuits, quantum circuits, biological circuits, and microsystems manufacturing. The proposals will be evaluated based on their scientific and technical merit, potential contribution to the DARPA mission, and cost realism.
• Scientific Disruption: Developing technology to enable fundamentally new ways to design and employ integrated circuits for the next generations of microsystems.
• Microsystems manufacturing ecosystem: Developing the infrastructure needed to bring sustainability to advanced microsystems.
• Dual use by design: Recognizing that the DoW must take advantage of commercial scaling but also find ways to build superior capability into defense microsystems.
