The Town of Stow is seeking proposals from qualified multidisciplinary firms or teams to provide design, engineering, and permitting for a proposed freshwater wetland restoration at the Randall Woods Park/Stow Acres Driving Range in Stow, Massachusetts. The project aims to restore the driving range into diverse and self-sustaining wetland habitats that provide ecological services and enable the community to access the site in a manner compatible with the wetland restoration. The selected firm will be expected to use materials and data files developed under previous project phases to the greatest extent possible. The project will restore natural wetland, increase flood storage, and improve water quality across the driving range area and in the tributary streams to the Assabet River.
Some key aspects of the project include:
• Restoration of the driving range into a self-sustaining wetland habitat
• Enhancement of the habitat value of the site for native wildlife
• Maintenance or improvement of water quality
• Provision of public access to and information about the wetland restoration area
• Reintroduction/transplanting of Atlantic White Cedar saplings if feasible
• Removal of invasive species and planting of native species as needed
The project is expected to be funded by a combination of Stow Community Preservation Act Funds and funds from the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game In-Lieu Fee Program, totaling approximately $450,000.
