Description

The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is seeking vendors to develop a next-generation fiducial flashpole system for marine raft use. The current system has experienced reliability and maintenance challenges, and the laboratory is looking for a more robust and maintainable replacement. The new system should have high-intensity flashing, external and internal triggering options, environmental durability, field maintainability, firmware support, and long-term lifecycle support. Vendors with experience in ruggedized electro-optical systems, embedded firmware, waterproof or weather-resistant packaging, and field-deployable equipment are encouraged to respond. • The system should meet specific requirements, including flash brightness, flash pulse timing, light output, and triggering capabilities. • The system should be protected against environmental factors, such as saltwater splashes and humidity. • The system should operate within a certain temperature range and withstand vibration and shock loads. • The system should be designed for minimal maintenance and include a diagnostic test mode. • The manufacturer should provide a minimum 3-year warranty and demonstrate the ability to manufacture and support the product for a minimum of 10 years.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this contract can be estimated based on the requirements and the scope of work. The development of a next-generation fiducial flashpole system for marine raft use is a complex task that requires significant expertise and resources. Considering the 26-week duration of the design work and the need for a minimum 3-year warranty, the total contract value could be in the range of $500,000 to $2,000,000. This estimate takes into account the costs of design, development, testing, and production, as well as the warranty and support requirements. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the system, the number of units to be produced, and the level of support required.
