The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, is releasing guidance on anti-ram barrier performance ratings. The notice provides clarification on the proper labeling of barriers as "K-rated" and/or "DOS-rated." Manufacturers are advised to inspect and update their websites and marketing materials to ensure compliance with the new guidelines. The Department of State utilizes security anti-ram perimeter barriers at diplomatic facilities overseas, and it is essential that these barriers meet certain physical security performance requirements. • The Department of State stopped using the SD-STD-02.01 test standard in 2008 and now uses the ASTM F2656 standard. • Manufacturers must provide documentation of a valid test report performed in accordance with ASTM F2656 to remain on the Approved List. • The notice provides a timeline for manufacturers to comply with the new guidelines, including updating their websites and marketing materials by September 30, 2024, and providing documentation of a valid test report by December 31, 2026.
