The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is soliciting applications for the FY26 Brownfields Job Training Grants. The purpose of this program is to recruit, train, and place local, unemployed, and under-employed residents with the skills needed to secure full-time employment in the environmental field. The grants will fund training programs that provide program graduates with the skills and opportunity to seek and obtain environmental jobs. The program aims to promote sustainable community revitalization and ensure that all residents living in communities historically affected by economic disinvestment, health disparities, and disproportionate and adverse exposures to environmental contamination have an opportunity to reap the benefits of revitalization and environmental cleanup.
Key aspects of the program include:
* Eligible applicants include general purpose units of local government, land clearance authorities, government entities created by state legislatures, regional councils, redevelopment agencies, states, federally recognized Indian tribes, and non-profit organizations.
* The program will fund up to 20 awards, with a total funding amount of $10,000,000 to $14,000,000.
* The project period is up to 5 years, and applicants may request up to $500,000 in EPA funds.
* The program will prioritize applications that demonstrate a strong commitment to community involvement, job training, and environmental cleanup.
* Applicants will be evaluated based on their ability to successfully complete and manage the proposed project, considering factors such as community need, training program description, budget, program structure, anticipated outputs and outcomes, partnerships, leveraging, and programmatic capability.
