Description

The United States Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) is conducting market research to identify possible sources capable of providing an Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)-robust one-way attack (OWA) drone. The system should integrate Global Positioning System (GPS), 4G/LTE/5G cellular connectivity, and have a range of over 20 kilometers. The drone is designed for specialized individuals within Special Tactics Teams (STTs) and will enable the integration of First-Person View One-Way Attack (FPV OWA) into core mission sets. Key features and requirements include: • Target Range: 10km (threshold) and 20km (objective) • Ground Launched VTOL System: Yes • Operating Flight Time without payload: 30 minutes (threshold) and 45 minutes (objective) • Operating flight Time with payload: 15 minutes (threshold) and 30 minutes (objective) • Kinetic Payload: 1.5Kg (threshold) and 3.0Kg (objective) • GPS: GPS in training environment (threshold) and Advanced GPS in denied operations (objective) • Reusability: Recoverable during training events • Electronic Safety and Arming Device: Yes • Payload options: Frag, simulator (threshold) and penetrator (objective) • Ground Station Controller: Unique application and hand controller/Ground Station (threshold) and Control through ATAK UAS Plugin (objective) • Comms Extension Payload/relay: >20km (threshold) and >30km (objective)

Budget estimate

$5,000,000 – $20,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate because the document does not provide a specific budget or pricing information. However, based on the complexity of the system and the requirements, it is likely that the contract value will be in the millions of dollars. The development and production of a custom unmanned aircraft system with advanced features such as GPS, cellular connectivity, and a kinetic payload will likely require significant investment. Additionally, the fact that the system is designed for specialized mission sets and will be used by Special Tactics Teams suggests that the contract value may be higher due to the sensitive and critical nature of the application. A rough estimate for the contract value could be between $5 million and $20 million, depending on the scope of the project, the number of units produced, and the level of customization required.
