The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to Stewards West-Conservation Legacy for the Natural Resource Assistants (2) project. The project aims to provide a 6-month internship for two Natural Resource Assistants to work on high-priority natural resource conservation projects at Rocky Mountain National Park. The interns will work on three main projects in the park's vegetation management program, including soil stabilization and vegetation restoration, removal of invasive vegetation, and restoration of alpine vegetation. The project's goals and objectives include assisting in the operations, stewardship, and protection of national parks, and providing opportunities for the public to get involved in volunteering and education.
• The project will involve working with federal agencies, tribal governments, and non-profits to build institutional capacity, develop community relationships, and support ecosystem health.
• The interns will work alongside park staff in the Resource Stewardship division and will be provided with training, orientation, and equipment.
• The project will support the National Park Service's mission and priorities, including creating a conservation stewardship legacy and utilizing science to identify best practices for managing land and water resources.
