Description

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is seeking proposals for planning grants to support small communities in assessing vulnerabilities and planning for the effects of Minnesota's changing climate. The grants will focus on three areas: stormwater resilience, wastewater resilience, and community resilience. Eligible applicants include tribal nations, local governmental units, and other organizations that serve a population of less than 10,000. The grants will support planning projects that increase resilience to the impacts of Minnesota's changing climate, such as vulnerability assessments, feasibility studies, and plan development. The MPCA prioritizes projects that serve diverse populations, especially those experiencing environmental injustices. • Eligible projects include stormwater resilience, wastewater resilience, and community resilience planning. • Ineligible projects include those that do not fit the three focus areas, water quality issues, and educational purposes. • The MPCA will evaluate applications based on criteria such as co-benefits, project need, lasting impact, use of climate data, and environmental justice areas of concern. • The grant award will be up to $1,100,000, with a minimum match requirement of 10% of the grant amount. • The grant period will be from the date of award to June 30, 2027.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

The budget for this grant can be estimated based on the available funding of $1,100,000. Since the grant is for planning projects, the budget is likely to be a portion of this amount, depending on the scope and requirements of the proposed project. Assuming an average grant award of $50,000 to $200,000, the budget range can be estimated as $50,000 to $200,000. This estimate is based on the grant's focus on planning projects and the minimum match requirement of 10% of the grant amount.
