"Advancing Biodefense Readiness: On-Demand Biologics, Automated Threat Detection, and Alternative for Testing Medical Countermeasures in High Containment”

The Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC) is seeking proposals for the advancement of biodefense readiness through four focus areas: Biologics On Demand, Automated Clinical and/or Environmental Sampling, Sequencing, and Analysis, Alternative Methods for Testing Medical Countermeasures in High Containment, and Microphysiological Alternatives for Gauging Pretreatment Immunogenicity and Efficacy (MAGPIE). The goal of this RPP is to support the development of cutting-edge technologies to protect, treat, and optimize Warfighters' health and performance. Proposers are invited to submit White Papers addressing one of the four focus areas, with the potential for follow-on funding for additional option years. • Focus Area 1: Biologics On Demand aims to advance the production of biologics on-demand and near point-of-need. • Focus Area 2: Automated Clinical and/or Environmental Sampling, Sequencing, and Analysis aims to develop an integrated system for detecting and identifying biological threats. • Focus Area 3: Alternative Methods for Testing Medical Countermeasures in High Containment aims to advance alternative models for evaluating MCMs against viral biothreats. • Focus Area 4: MAGPIE aims to advance immune microphysiological systems for vaccine evaluation and development.
