Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Tackling Acquisition of Language in Kids (TALK) initiative seeks to support activities to better understand early language learning and delay. NIH TALK invites applications for research projects that aim to better understand the information and practice needs of caregivers, professionals, and other invested parties who support late talking children and to determine whether those needs are being effectively met. Community engaged research combined with rigorous qualitative research and diverse perspectives is needed to enrich our understanding of how to get state-of-the-science information and practice to those who need it most to guide decisions about late talking children. • Eligible applicants include institutions of higher education, non-profits, small businesses, and others. • The initiative focuses on understanding the information and practice needs of caregivers and professionals supporting late talking children. • Community engaged research and qualitative research are expected to be combined to achieve the initiative's goals. • The application due date is October 2, 2025.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

Given that the award ceiling and floor are not specified, it's challenging to provide an exact budget estimation. However, considering the nature of the research grants typically funded by the National Institutes of Health, the budget could potentially range from $200,000 to $500,000, depending on the scope and duration of the proposed research project. This estimation is based on the average funding amounts for similar research initiatives.
