Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking applications for the early stage testing of pharmacologic or device-based interventions for the treatment of mental disorders. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) encourages early stage testing of pharmacologic interventions with novel mechanisms of actions or device-based interventions. The goal of this initiative is to support early stage testing of therapeutic interventions using a protocol design where the presumed mechanism of action of the intervention is adequately tested. • The FOA is intended to support early stage testing of pharmacologic or device-based interventions. • The intervention should have a novel mechanism of action. • The study should generate information about the mechanisms underlying a disorder or an intervention response. • The study should provide meaningful information where target modulation yields a dose-dependent neurophysiological/clinical/behavioral effect.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this grant is not explicitly stated, but based on the information provided, it can be estimated that the funding amount will be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million. This estimate is based on the fact that the FOA is for early stage testing of pharmacologic or device-based interventions, which typically requires significant funding for research and development. Additionally, the NIH is a major funding agency for medical research, and their grants often range from a few hundred thousand to several million dollars.
