Description

The Air Force Test Center (AFTC) is conducting market research to reactivate the Hypersonic Test Facility (HTF) located at the NASA Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio. The HTF is a mothballed, clean-air wind tunnel designed to simulate true-enthalpy hypersonic flight conditions from Mach 5 to Mach 7. The reactivation process is expected to require 18-24 months and will be executed in two phases. The primary objective is to restore the HTF to a safe, documented, and fully functional state. Key tasks include: • Program Management • Systems Engineering and Integration • Subsystem Refurbishment and Reassembly • NASA Interface, Safety, and Environmental Compliance The Government is seeking capabilities statements from potential sources, including small businesses, to demonstrate their ability to provide or perform the requirement stated in this notice.

Budget estimate

$10,000,000 – $50,000,000

The budget for this project can be estimated based on the scope of work, which involves the reactivation of a hypersonic test facility. Considering the complexity of the project, the cost of materials, labor, and engineering services, a rough estimate for the budget could be between $10 million to $50 million. This is a wide range, but it takes into account the potential costs of refurbishing the facility, procuring obsolete parts, and executing the required engineering and testing services. The actual budget may vary depending on the specifics of the contract and the bidding process.
