Description

The United States Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) is seeking a Thermobaric Advanced Blast Simulator (TABS) for medical research purposes. The core requirement of this research is the ability to produce a scientifically precise and replicable thermobaric blast waveform. The TABS system shall be delivered no later than September 2028 to Bivouac Assembly Area at Joint Base San Antonio – Camp Bullis. The system should meet the following specifications: * The TABS system shall be delivered fully integrated within a durable and weatherproof standard 40-foot ISO shipping container. * The container shall feature at least two lockable, distinct points of personnel egress. * The system shall be capable of generating a thermobaric waveform meeting the following key performance parameters at the 'mid-field' and 'far-field' test sections. * The system shall include at least two test sections, or one relocatable test section, to allow for specimen exposure at various standoff distances corresponding to the ‘mid-field’ and ‘far-field’ regimes. * The system shall be designed to ensure complete operator safety against all system-generated hazards. * The vendor shall provide a minimal 2-year warranty covering all parts and labor, as well as after-sale hardware and software technical support. Some key features of the TABS system include: • Containerization: The TABS system shall be delivered fully integrated within a durable and weatherproof standard 40-foot ISO shipping container. • Access: The container shall feature at least two lockable, distinct points of personnel egress. • Environmental Hardening: The container shall provide complete protection for all internal components from environmental elements. • Climatization: The container shall feature an HVAC system capable of maintaining a stable internal climate during operational use. • Operational Footprint: The combined operational footprint required for the safe TABS System operation shall not exceed a 30 ft x 60 ft level area.

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $5,000,000

The budget for this project can be estimated based on the complexity and scope of the work. The development of a thermobaric advanced blast simulator is a complex task that requires significant expertise and resources. The system must meet specific performance parameters and be delivered within a certain timeframe. Considering these factors, a rough estimate for the budget could be between $1 million and $5 million. This estimate is based on the assumption that the project will require significant investment in research and development, as well as the procurement of specialized equipment and materials.
