Description

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is seeking a single partner from the Chesapeake Watershed Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) to conduct a five‑year research effort on North American amphibian populations. The cooperative agreement will fund model development and analysis of a national amphibian disease dataset, prototype dynamic integrated distribution models, and create decision‑support tools for managing an endangered amphibian on DOI lands. The award is a cooperative agreement (USGS will have substantial involvement) with an estimated total funding of $450,000, of which $277,466 is earmarked for the first budget year. Applicants must be a current CESU partner, register in SAM.gov, and submit a full application through Grants.gov by 11 p.m. ET on 14 Nov 2026. The project will run from 1 Jan 2027 to 31 Dec 2031 and will require data‑management plans, regular reporting, and adherence to USGS and DOI policies. • Eligible applicants: existing partners of the Chesapeake Watershed CESU. • Funding mechanism: Cooperative Agreement (USGS substantive involvement). • Total award ceiling: $450,000 over five years. • Primary research tasks: amphibian disease model analysis, dynamic distribution model prototyping, decision‑tool development for endangered species management. • Required registrations: UEI/SAM.gov and Grants.gov workspace. • Deliverables: peer‑reviewed publications, data sets, decision tools, annual progress reports.

Budget estimate

$400,000 – $500,000

The solicitation lists an estimated total program funding of $450,000 for a single award spanning five years, with $277,466 allocated for the first year. Assuming the award is made in full, the partner can expect to receive roughly $450 K over the life of the project. Variability may arise from the agency’s “additional funding will be based upon satisfactory progress and availability of funds,” so the actual amount could be slightly lower if later years are not fully funded, or marginally higher if supplemental funds become available. A reasonable estimate therefore ranges from $400,000 (conservative, accounting for possible shortfalls) up to $500,000 (including potential supplemental allocations).
