The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking applications for the Traditional Conservation Grant Program, which aims to support the development and implementation of States' programs to conserve and recover threatened and endangered species. Eligible activities include introduction of species into suitable habitats, enhancement or restoration of habitat, surveys and inventories of habitats, species status surveys, propagation of animals and plants, research, public education and outreach, and monitoring of candidate, at-risk, and recently recovered species. Applications should demonstrate a direct benefit to the species or its habitat and must be submitted by May 24, 2024.
Some key points to consider:
• Eligible applicants are State governments that have entered into a cooperative agreement with the Service.
• The minimum non-Federal cost share is 25 percent of the total project cost.
• The maximum period of performance for a grant is three years.
• Awarded funds must be expended in a timely manner or returned to the Service for reallocation.
• The Service reserves the right to reject an application in its entirety if information is uncovered that raises a significant risk with respect to the responsibility or suitability of an applicant.
