The East Bay Greenway Multimodal Project’s Oakland North segment will reconstruct approximately 5.3 miles of arterial streets, install new multimodal pathways, upgrade traffic signals, lighting, drainage, and relocate utilities to create a complete, ADA‑compliant, bicycle‑friendly corridor from Lake Merritt BART to Fruitvale BART. The work is performed on an “as‑built” unit‑price basis and requires compliance with prevailing‑wage, DIR registration, and extensive environmental safeguards.
• Scope includes roadway paving, concrete curb ramps, sidewalks, curbs & gutters, new/modified traffic signals, pedestrian beacons, lighting, signage, and green‑infrastructure (bioretention, bioswales).
• Utility relocation and adjustments (water, sewer, gas, electric, communications) are embedded; detailed coordination with city, BART, and Caltrans utilities is required.
• Environmental commitments demand dust control, noise mitigation, hazardous‑material handling (lead, asbestos), ESA fencing, archaeological monitoring, and a 30‑day watering regimen for seeded areas.
• Contractor must hold a Class A General Engineering license, submit a 10 % bid bond, provide 100 % payment and performance bonds, and maintain DIR registration for the project’s 363‑working‑day duration.
