Description

The City of Pasadena is soliciting qualified consulting firms to design a 3.8‑mile “quick‑build” demonstration corridor on El Molino Avenue (between Atchison St. and Bonita Dr.). The consultant will develop temporary traffic‑calming treatments (e.g., painted crosswalks, medians, speed humps, buffered bike lanes), engage the diverse local community, produce safety analyses, and compile a final report that meets USDOT Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant requirements. Deliverables include conceptual designs, community‑feedback documentation, a safety‑impact assessment, and recommendations for permanent greenway implementation. The work must comply with federal ADA, PROWAG, California Title 24, and the California MUTCD, and the team must have prior experience with SS4A‑funded projects and California transportation engineering.

Budget estimate

$300,000 – $600,000

The solicitation does not disclose a budget. Comparable transportation‑engineering consulting contracts for a 3‑4 mile quick‑build study in California typically range from $300 K to $600 K, depending on scope of community outreach, number of design alternatives, and depth of safety analysis. Factors influencing the final amount include the level of detail required for the SS4A reporting, the number of stakeholder workshops, and any value‑added design innovations proposed at no extra cost.
