Description

The City of Ferndale is seeking bids for the 2026 Pavement Joint and Crack Sealing Program, which involves overband joint and crack filling on local and major streets. The work generally consists of twenty-one roadbed miles of overband joint and crack filling. The city encourages bids from all contractors, including small, emerging small, women, minority, disadvantaged, veteran, Vietnam veteran, disabled veteran, 8(a), and HUBZone businesses. The contractor must also maintain traffic and traffic control devices throughout the project and ensure that all traffic control devices conform to the current edition of the Michigan Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MMUTCD). Some key events and deadlines include: • Questions due: November 28, 2025 • Bid submission deadline: December 4, 2025 • Work shall be substantially completed and completed and ready for final payment in accordance with Paragraph 14.07 of the General Conditions on or before the dates or within the number of calendar days indicated in the Agreement. The following are some of the key requirements and considerations for the project: • The contractor must provide bid security in the form of a certified or bank check or a bid bond payable to the City of Ferndale for an amount equal to five percent of the total base bid price. • The successful bidder will be required to furnish a satisfactory Performance Bond, and Labor and Material Bond in the amount of 100% of the Contract Price, and Maintenance and Guarantee Bond of 100% for one year of the Final Contract Price. • The contractor must comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including those related to labor, employment, and environmental protection. • The contractor must also comply with the City of Ferndale's ordinance regarding living wage requirements. • The project requires the contractor to coordinate with other contractors and stakeholders to ensure that the work is completed efficiently and effectively.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

Based on the project description, it is difficult to estimate the exact budget for this opportunity. However, considering the scope of work and the requirements for the project, it is likely that the budget will be in the range of $500,000 to $2,000,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the project will require significant resources and labor to complete, and that the contractor will need to provide all necessary materials and equipment. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the work, the number of roadbed miles to be filled, and the requirements for traffic control and maintenance.
