Description

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is seeking sources capable of providing Deep Argo Floats, Core Argo Floats, and Biogeochemical Argo Floats for NOAA ocean monitoring, observing, and prediction. The anticipated number of floats to be procured are as follows: Deep Argo Floats (1-31 per year), Core Argo Floats (1-50 per year), and Biogeochemical Argo Floats (1-34 per year). The floats must meet specific technical specifications, including the ability to profile from the ocean surface to certain pressures, determine their position using GPS and Iridium, and transmit scientific and engineering data. Some key points to consider: * The floats must be delivered within 12 months of receipt of order. * The floats must be capable of being reprogrammed remotely via Iridium communications. * The floats must be capable of detecting and avoiding sea ice. * The floats must be delivered in durable packaging that is legal to be shipped internationally. * The vendor should submit evidence that the floats can meet the technical specifications and have performed well in the ocean.

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $10,000,000

Based on the information provided, it is difficult to estimate the exact budget amount. However, considering the number of floats to be procured and the technical specifications, it can be assumed that the budget will be substantial. The vendor will need to provide the floats, packaging, and other necessary equipment, as well as technical support and maintenance. The budget may also depend on the complexity of the floats and the level of customization required. A rough estimate for the budget could be between $1 million and $10 million per year, considering the number of floats and the technical requirements. However, this is a very rough estimate and the actual budget could be higher or lower, depending on various factors such as the vendor's experience, the level of competition, and the specific requirements of the contract.
