The National Park Service is providing public notice of the intent to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source justified cooperative agreement for the project "Research & Publish Minority Participants in the Battle of Cowpens". The project aims to conduct in-depth research to expand the knowledge about the non-white male participants before, during, and after the Battle of Cowpens in January 1781. The research will be used to expand the interpretive programming and exhibits regarding these groups of people as it relates to their role in the battle and the American Revolution. The project tasks include providing a biography for each of the figures, compiling the stories of actual African Americans, Native Americans, and women and children, and creating educational materials based on the developed materials.
Some key points to consider:
• The project is looking for a researcher with a master's degree or higher to conduct the research
• The research will focus on the role of African Americans, Native Americans, and women and children in the Battle of Cowpens
• The project will provide employment, experience, and career development for one historian/researcher
• The project will increase the diversity of the interpretive stories told about the Battle of Cowpens and the American Revolution
• The project will provide primary source narratives for use in virtual, urban, and/or diverse populations to increase inclusiveness to the American Revolution and the battlefield
