Abandoned Shopping Cart Retrieval Services

The County of San Mateo is seeking quotations from qualified contractors/vendors to provide abandoned shopping cart retrieval services within the unincorporated areas of the County. The services include responding to reported abandoned shopping carts, proactively identifying and retrieving abandoned shopping carts through routine patrol of County-identified hotspot areas, and maintaining accurate records of retrieval activities. • The contractor shall retrieve abandoned shopping carts reported through the County’s reporting platform or other County communication methods within three business days of notification. • The contractor shall collect abandoned shopping carts and return them to the retailer, and if a retailer has an existing reimbursement or cart retrieval program in place, the contractor shall first seek reimbursement directly from the retailer. • The contractor shall have the ability to remove and properly dispose of any clearly discarded materials or trash contained in the carts. • The contractor shall proactively identify and retrieve abandoned shopping carts through routine patrol of County-identified hotspot areas once per week.
