Stormwater Infiltration Vault Remediation at Manning Steam Plant

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a contractor to remediate the stormwater infiltration vault at the Manning Steam Plant. The project involves pumping the stormwater vault, removing fuel-laden sediment, and cleaning the vault and stone layer of residual fuel contamination. The contractor must propose a not-to-exceed cost and provide a rate sheet for any extra work. The project must be completed within 30 days of issuance of a purchase order. • The stormwater vault is a 54’ long by 36’ wide arched subsurface structure with two access manholes. • The bottom of the vault is lined with 1’ deep of 1” stone, and there is a sediment layer on top of the stone varying in depth between 3”-18”. • The location of the spill is at an active steam plant adjacent to sensitive locations, including a critical substation, active construction zones, and student housing. • The contractor must avoid disturbance of neighboring activities and excessive overnight noise. • The contractor may elect to utilize subcontracted services with prior approval from the University.
