Description

The City of Sacramento is soliciting bids for the repair and seepage mitigation of the Lower Beach Lake berm that separates Lower Beach Lake from Morrison Creek. The work includes clearing and grubbing, removal of existing concrete cap and culvert, excavation of rip‑rap and soil, construction of a temporary cofferdam, installation of a ~6,790 sf hot‑rolled steel sheet‑pile cutoff wall, placement of Controlled Low‑Strength Material (CLSM) backfill, import of fill and Caltrans Class I rock for slope protection, and a new reinforced concrete cap. The contract is a fixed‑price lump‑sum with a 60‑working‑day construction period, liquidated damages of $1,500 per day for late completion, and mandatory LBE participation (5 %). • Scope covers full berm reconstruction, sheet‑pile wall, de‑watering, and erosion‑control SWPPP implementation. • Bid bond required at 10 % of total bid; performance and payment bonds of 100 % of contract sum. • Pre‑bid meeting scheduled for March 5, 2026 (non‑mandatory); questions due March 11, 2026; bid submission due April 1, 2026. • Engineer’s estimate is $1,315,000, indicating the anticipated contract value.

Budget estimate

$1,200,000 – $1,400,000

The engineer’s estimate listed in the bid package is $1,315,000, which is used to calculate the required 10 % bid bond. Assuming a typical public‑works profit margin of 5‑10 %, the expected net earnings for the contractor would likely fall between $1.2 M and $1.4 M. Factors influencing the final budget include the final awarded price (could be lower or higher than the estimate), change orders, and any awarded contingency work (e.g., cofferdam).
