Manhole Rain Guard Inserts

The City of Raleigh is seeking bids for the supply and delivery of manhole rain guard inserts to reduce inflow and infiltration of stormwater into sanitary sewer systems. The inserts must be durable, corrosion-resistant, have an 8+ years of service life, be easy to install, and be compatible with the City of Raleigh's standard manhole frames and covers. The contract will be awarded for a term of one year with renewal options for up to three additional twelve-month terms. • The inserts must be constructed of high-strength, UV-resistant rubber, neoprene, high-density polyethylene, or equivalent material. • The inserts must be resistant to petroleum products, road salts, and sewer gases. • The inserts must fit between the manhole frame and the cover and must not interfere with manhole lid removal. • The inserts must be capable of repeated installation and removal without loss of performance. • The inserts must provide a quick insert lifting mechanism and require no special tools for installation. • The inserts must have a ventilation vent hole located on the side of the insert. • The inserts must prevent inflow of rainwater and surface runoff into the collection system and withstand traffic loads typical of roadway installations. • The inserts must maintain integrity under temperature ranges from -20°F to 150°F and vent sewer gas at 1 PSI or less.
