Kansas Apprenticeship Tax & Grant Act

• A $13 million annual fund established to incentivize apprenticeship programs in Kansas, effective July 1, 2023 • Three main funding components: 1. For-profit businesses: Up to $7.5M in tax credits - $2,500 per apprentice (increasing to $2,750 after Dec 31, 2025) - Maximum 20 apprentices per employer per year - Additional $500 for Perkins-eligible programs 2. Non-profits & healthcare: $2.5M in grants - Up to $2,750 per apprentice - Maximum 20 apprentices per employer per year 3. K-12 Education: $3M in grants - Up to $2,750 per apprentice annually for 4 years - Covers tuition, fees, books and materials • Key dates for non-profits: - 2024 funding windows: Jan 1-31, May 1-31, Oct 1-31 - 2025 funding windows: Jan 1-31, May 1-31 • For-profit tax credits can be claimed starting January 1, 2024 for tax year 2023 • Fund is "use it or lose it" with no carryover between years
