Description

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is seeking proposals for the Habitable Worlds Observatory Instrument Concept Assessments (HWO-ICA) program. The program aims to support the maturation of the HWO mission concept by developing and analyzing innovative instrument concepts. The program will support two categories of proposals: Category 1, which is led by U.S.-based institutions, and Category 2, which supports U.S.-based individuals participating in ongoing instrument concept programs led by non-U.S. institutions. The proposals should focus on expanding and deepening the exploration of the HWO instrument trade space. The selected proposals will be funded by firm-fixed-priced contracts or Interagency Agreements. • The program will support the development of innovative instrument concepts for the HWO mission. • The proposals should include a detailed description of the instrument concept, its scientific opportunity and performance, engineering feasibility and footprint, technology maturity and gaps, and associated risks. • The program will support two categories of proposals: Category 1 and Category 2. • The selected proposals will be funded by firm-fixed-priced contracts or Interagency Agreements. • The program does not support the development of flight hardware or support tools/systems.
