Description
The Community Assistance Program - State Support Services Element (CAP-SSSE) program provides funding to states to provide technical assistance to communities in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and to evaluate community performance in implementing NFIP floodplain management activities. The program aims to support the DHS Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2020-2024, Goal 5: Strengthen Preparedness and Resilience. Key activities include:
• Providing technical assistance to communities in the NFIP
• Evaluating community performance in implementing NFIP floodplain management activities
• Supporting states in building their capability and capacity to manage flood risk
• Promoting strong state interagency coordination and collaboration
• Educating communities and the public on the value of higher standards and insurance coverage
• Supporting communities in responding to disasters and promoting post-disaster assistance and support.
