WALKER UPPER ELEMENTARY OUTDOOR PLAY SPACE

The City of Charlottesville is seeking bids for the construction of an outdoor play space at Walker Upper Elementary. The project includes site preparation, utilities and infrastructure installation, play equipment installation, surfacing and hardscape, fencing and safety elements, landscaping, and site furnishings. The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to complete the project. The project is expected to start on June 1, 2026, and be substantially complete by August 4, 2026, with final completion by August 11, 2026. Key aspects of the project include: • Site preparation, including limited demolition, clearing, grading, and removal of conflicting materials • Installation of utilities, including drainage, electrical, and other utilities • Installation of play equipment, sensory elements, and related components • Provision of safety surfacing, pathways, concrete pads, edging, and other ground treatments • Installation of fencing, gates, shade structures, guardrails, and other safety-related features • Landscaping, including plantings, mulch, and natural play elements • Provision of site furnishings, including seating, storage, signage, and other specified fixtures • Final site cleanup and delivery of a complete, ready-for-use outdoor play space
