Annual Street Sweeping Contract

The City of Ames is seeking a qualified contractor to provide street sweeping services for a period of one year, with the option to extend the contract for up to four additional years. The contractor will be responsible for furnishing all labor, supervision, equipment, insurance, and other components necessary to complete the sweeping of City streets. The contractor must provide a mechanical and vacuum type street sweeper, and must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local requirements. The City of Ames will pay the contractor based on the actual hours worked, and the contractor must submit invoices at least biweekly. The evaluation criteria for this contract will include bid prices, proposed equipment, proposed operators, responses from references, and prior service on City of Ames projects. Key aspects of the job include: • Sweeping all streets clean of all sand, gravel, salt, and other debris to the satisfaction of the Owner’s Representative • Providing vehicle and pedestrian access for citizens on City streets • Maintaining at least one lane of traffic • Furnishing and maintaining all necessary traffic control and safety equipment • Complying with all federal, state, and local requirements • Correcting any damage to public or private property due to their operations
