Description
The US Army is seeking a self-propelled howitzer system to replace the towed M777 howitzers. The system should be based on a wheeled chassis, have a caliber between 49 and 56 calibers, and be able to fire 155mm class artillery ammunition. The proposed system should meet the key characteristics outlined in Attachment 015. The Army intends to award one contract to a single vendor via competitive technical evaluation.
Some key points to consider include:
* The system should be mature and available, with a credible amount of test and evaluation already completed.
* The system should be compatible with current US-inventory ammunition.
* The system should have a comprehensive technical volume that substantiates performance claims.
* The system should have a clear and concise proposal that demonstrates an understanding of the project requirements.
* The system should have a detailed plan for transitioning to domestic production within two years of award.
* The system should have a plan for onshoring and utilizing the Organic Industrial Base.
* The system should have a viable strategy for maximizing domestic sourcing and ensuring supply chain resiliency.
