Description
The Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), in partnership with the Air Force Research Lab, seeks proposals from a university‑led team (up to ten investigators) to establish a Center for High‑Speed Aerothermoelasticity. The Center will conduct basic research on the coupled physics of high‑speed fluid dynamics, thermal transport, and structural mechanics, supporting computational, theoretical, and experimental work, and will interface with AFRL facilities such as Wright‑Patterson AFB and the Arnold Engineering Development Center. Funding is a single award of up to $2.75 M per year for three years (options to extend to five years), with a total ceiling of $13.75 M. Proposals must include a white paper (due 22 Jan 2027) and a full application (due 2 Apr 2027). Eligibility is limited to U.S. public or private higher‑education institutions; at least one HBCU investigator is strongly encouraged.
