Supporting Implementation of the REIF in the Great Lakes Region of Africa

The Bureau of African Affairs (AF) is seeking proposals to support the implementation of the Regional Economic Integration Framework (REIF) in the Great Lakes Region of Africa. The program aims to improve governance and regulation to attract American business and counter corrupt and unfair practices that hamper economic growth in the region. The project will provide targeted technical and advisory support to relevant host nation institutions and individuals involved in the mining industries within the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda. Some key aspects of the project include: • Improving transparency and licit trade in the mining sector • Promoting trusted information and communication technology infrastructure • Enforcing licit finance and promoting responsible investment • Strengthening regulatory frameworks and improving enforcement mechanisms The applicant should propose concrete deliverables, indicators, targets, and milestones for each year of the project to measure success. The program seeks market-based solutions that strengthen the environment for foreign investment in sub-Saharan Africa through transparent and competitive processes, creating sustainable economic growth.
