Description
The USDA Forest Service is seeking to identify manufacturers capable of providing a motor grader mulcher with a boom, specifically the XD72 Forax Mulcher and Grader Implement Boom or an equal product. The equipment should be designed for operation on a 150 Caterpillar style motor grader during gravel road maintenance operations, with a minimum 70-inch mulching width and a minimum 20 feet reach of boom. The equipment should include all necessary parts, instructions for mounting, and an O&M manual for maintenance and use. The purpose of this Sources Sought notice is to perform market research and gain knowledge of potential qualified manufacturers and their size classification relative to NAICS 333120.
Key requirements include:
• Minimum 70-inch mulching width
• Minimum 20 feet reach of boom
• Shall include all parts necessary for complete mounting and full operation of unit
• Shall include instructions for mounting and O&M manual for maintenance and use
• Detail all required assembly for complete use on motor grader including hydraulics and hydraulic controls
• Shall be able to mulch up to 6” diameter trees or other natural vegetation of similar size or density
• Structural frame designed for heavy-duty road maintenance operations
• Allow secure attachment to the side frame of the motor grader
• Be designed for safe operation during grader travel and road maintenance activities
