The National Park Service intends to award a single-source justified cooperative agreement to Conservation Legacy for the Public Land Corps Project to Repair and Sustain Trails. The project aims to restore park equestrian/hiking trails to minimize flooding during inclement weather and provide long-term stabilization of trail surface and associated components. The work crews will provide trail tread repair, repair or replace creek bed crossings, and contribute to some vegetation removal and other types of minor trail work. The project will take place in the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, and the crew will work on the Red, White, and Blue trails.
Some key aspects of the project include:
• Trail tread repair and maintenance
• Creek bed crossing repair and replacement
• Vegetation removal and minor trail work
• Environmental education programs
• Collaboration with the National Park Service to develop the project and create a project schedule
• Administration of the project, including recruitment and employment of crew members, supervision, and mentoring
• Promotion of the partnership through social media and other outlets
