Special Accommodation Grant

The Department for Children and Families is seeking applications for the Special Accommodation Grant, which aims to support the safe and successful inclusion of children with identified needs in Vermont-regulated Specialized Child Care programs. The grant will provide funding for specialized materials and supplies, consultation, training, or coaching for child care staff, and Inclusion Support Staff to provide additional staffing. The application must be submitted electronically through JotForm, and the deadline for submission varies depending on the round of application. The grant agreement will be issued to approved eligible applicants, and the award period will be for a minimum of 6 weeks and up to 12 months. The selected applicant will be expected to sign a grant agreement with the State, including the Standard State Attachments, within sixty calendar days of award notice. The grant will be monitored and evaluated based on program reports, SAG Parent/Legal Guardian survey results, correspondence, and financial reports. Key requirements for the application include: • The applicant must be a Vermont-regulated Specialized Child Care program in good regulatory standing with Vermont Child Care Regulations and the Child Care Financial Assistance Program (CCFAP). • The applicant must be caring for — or planning to care for — at least one child who needs extra support to safely access, participate in, or remain in the program. • The application must include a plan that explains how the Inclusion Support Staff will receive training and supervision during the grant period, and how the child will receive support while learning and playing alongside their peers. • The application must include a budget and a detailed scope of work, as well as any additional documentation required by the State.
