Develop and deploy software to enable efficient access to and analysis of NASA model data

The opportunity is for developing and deploying software to enable efficient access to and analysis of NASA model data. The scope of work includes ingesting, converting, and serving a subset of the MERRA-21C dataset as Analysis-Ready Cloud Optimized (ARCO) data. The contractor will provide qualified personnel, materials, equipment, documentation, and facilities to perform the work. The project has a duration of 3 months and includes key milestones such as tracking ARCO ingestion and conversion, dynamic regridding and aggregation service, and public access and delivery. The deliverables include an ARCO version of the selected MERRA-21C subset, a Flux API endpoint for public data access, source code and associated documentation, a benchmarking report, and a final white paper. • The contractor will track ARCO ingestion and conversion, including ingesting a high-value subset of MERRA-21C and converting data from NetCDF4 to Icechunk-backed Zarr stores. • The contractor will develop and benchmark dynamic regridding and aggregation capabilities. • The contractor will configure Flux API to serve ARCO MERRA-21C data via a public-facing endpoint. • The contractor will provide cost analysis of dynamic regridding vs. precomputed lat-lon storage. • The contractor will participate in technical reviews and provide performance benchmarking reports.
