Hard Hats - Class 2 Type E

The City of Tacoma is soliciting information for Class E Hard Hats to be utilized by Transmission & Distribution crews as part of their standard PPE. The hard hats must have an integrated full brim, comply with all applicable laws in Washington State, and meet the ANSI Z89.2-1971 standard. The City is interested in assessing the cost of replacement over time for all employees and encourages the use of sustainability practices. • The hard hats must be proof tested at 20,000 volts to meet Class E requirements in Washington state. • The City is interested in vendors who would be willing to send between 6 – 10 hard hats for team members to try on and utilize for testing. • The City encourages the use of environmentally preferable products or services that have a lesser or reduced effect on human health and the environment. • The City is committed to encouraging firms certified through the Washington State Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprise to participate in City contracting opportunities.
