Description

The City of Cambridge is seeking bids to furnish crash-worthy steel barricades for the purpose of protecting pedestrians from the threat of impact from motor vehicles. The equipment required includes mobile steel barricades, a trailer, hand carts, barricade cables, ADA cable covers, and an emergency access gate. The successful bidder will be required to provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to provide the steel safety barricades. The contract will be awarded to the responsive and responsible bidder offering the lowest price. • The barricades must be able to withstand impact from a large motor vehicle and bring it to a stop within 25 feet of the collision point. • The barricades must be able to be moved by one person using a hand cart. • The barricades must be able to be moved by one person onto and off the trailer. • The barricades must be resistant to weather elements. • The barricades must be able to deploy on bituminous asphalt and cement concrete surfaces. • The barricades must be able to reuse after impact. • The barricades must be able to connect to other barriers with steel cable. • The barricades must be equipped with wheels for mobility. • The barricades must not require electricity, hydraulics, fuel, or power of any kind to operate or move individual barricades. • The barricades must comply with Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act, AASHTO MASH TL-3, ASTM F2656-07 M30 P3, and ISO IWA-14 and PAS-68.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be in the range of $50,000 to $200,000, considering the cost of the equipment and labor required to provide the steel safety barricades. The exact budget will depend on the bid price and the terms of the contract. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the number of barricades required, the frequency of special events, and the duration of the contract.
