Description

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking a contractor to restore beach and dune ecosystems on a coastwide scale. The work focuses on establishing a dune footprint with native vegetation, following the installation of sand fences designed to trap wind‑blown sand and promote natural dune accretion. The contractor will develop a planting scheme, procure and install sand fences, plant appropriate dune species, and provide post‑planting monitoring to ensure successful dune building. • Design and implement a sand‑fencing plan to reduce sand loss. • Select and source native dune vegetation suitable for the region. • Execute planting operations across multiple beach sites. • Conduct site inspections and performance monitoring. • Deliver final reporting on vegetation establishment and dune growth.

Budget estimate

$2,000,000 – $7,000,000

Dune restoration projects of this scale typically run into the low‑ to mid‑millions of dollars, driven by costs for site surveys, design engineering, material procurement (sand fences, plants, irrigation), labor for installation across many miles of shoreline, and ongoing monitoring. Assuming a coastwide effort covering dozens of beach segments, a reasonable ballpark would be between $2 million and $7 million in total contract value. Factors that could shift the range include the number of sites, the extent of vegetation required, and any additional habitat‑enhancement measures.
