Universal Refuse Carts

The City of Orlando is seeking bids for the purchase of Universal Refuse Carts for the Solid Waste Division. The carts should be compatible with standard American semi-automated bar-locking lifters and fully automated arm lifters. The City intends to order approximately 24,000 carts in truckload quantity to be delivered over a 12-month period. The successful bidder will be required to provide a warranty for at least 10 years and provide replacement parts as needed. Key features of the carts include a body, lid, snap-on wheels, axle, and necessary accessories. The carts should be made of high-density polyethylene and have a distinctive color impregnated into the plastic. The City has selected black and teal as the colors for this purchase. • The larger size carts will be between 94 to 99 gallons, and the smaller size carts will be between 60 to 66 gallons. • The carts must meet the requirements of ANSI X245.30-1999 and ANSI Z245.60-1999 standards for "Type BIG" containers. • The carts must have a load rating of up to 335 pounds of waste materials, excluding the weight of the container. • The carts must have a handle that is an integrally molded part of the container body and does not rotate on its own axis. • The carts must have a lid that is crowned in shape and designed to disallow entry of rain when in the closed position. • The carts must have a bottom with a molded-in wear strip to protect against dragging. • The carts must have wheels that are a minimum of 8 inches in diameter and 1.50 inches wide with textured treads. • The carts must have an axle that is a minimum of 5/8 inch diameter zinc chromate plated solid high strength steel fully supported by the cart body.
