The Army Applications Laboratory (AAL) is seeking technologies related to Expeditionary Power and Energy to enable the 11th Airborne Division (Arctic). The AAL is looking for modular and interoperable power generation, energy storage, and power distribution capabilities that can be used at multiple echelons. The solutions should enable smart hubs, power conversion units, and sharing devices, and should be capable of distributing energy over a 72-hour cycle. The proposed solutions should also be capable of interfacing with a variety of standard and non-standard batteries.
Some key features of the desired solutions include:
• Modular, open system architecture design
• Power output capacity ranging from 75 watts to 15 kilowatts
• Energy storage and distribution systems that do not degrade capability by more than 20% at or below -40C
• Interoperability with standard military and commercial connectors
• Ruggedization to meet Ingress Protection and MIL-STD-810H standards
• Signature management to minimize electromagnetic, thermal, audible, and visual signatures
• Maintainability with readily available components and clear diagnostic capabilities
• Power management technology that integrates with unit's existing network and provides insight into unit generators and power components.
